Mercedes E-Class EstateThe Mercedes E-Class Estate by Maarten Hoffmann

I owned an E-Class estate a few years back and really liked it. Yes it’s huge and wafts around like a stately home but then that’s why you buy it. My kids loved it as the rear two seats that made this a 7-seater, pulled up from the floor and faced backwards and they thought that was hysterical. It might not of been terribly safe in a rear shunt mind you but hysterical never the less.

So it was with some anticipation that the latest model pulled onto my drive and without even getting inside it, l can tell you that it is a very handsome motor. Do you recall the days when as estate was a saloon with a semi-detached house bolted to the rear and drove like a - well, a semi-detached house. Today, most manufacturers have estates and they really can be good looking cars but the test is if they drive as if it were a saloon. This is the real test.
