Platinum Publishing Group

Always fresh, always relevant, always irreverent.

The Platinum Publishing Group was formed five years ago to serve the business community of the South East. The region is the economic powerhouse of the UK but was very poorly served by any publication that connected businesses and kept them abreast of all the news, views and opinion.

Our flagship title is Platinum Business Magazine that covers the whole of Sussex and is the largest circulation regional business magazine in the UK. With the high quality production and even higher journalistic standards, of which we are very proud, we were then contacted by the Surrey Chambers of Commerce to produce their magazine. Surrey Chambers Business is now the largest circulation business title in Surrey. We then began production of the magazine for the Alliance of Chambers in East Sussex, and ACES Magazine was born and this was followed by Connect Magazine covering the West of Sussex.

The Platinum Publications now cover 92% of every business in the region and has become a vital tool for business leaders to know what is going on within their patch.

Our digital reach is just as important. Across our digital platforms we have built a readership of over 465,000. Added to our print readership of 235,000 each issue across the four magazines, we are delighted that we now reach more than 700,000 readers.

The company was started by Maarten Hoffmann and Ian Trevett. Maarten has a long illustrious background with the BBC, followed by many years of business working with some of the largest blue-chip companies in the UK and Ian has a long and successful background in print media across a wide spectrum of sectors. Together, we brought a fresh perspective to the world of publishing and changed the manner in which such magazines are brought to market, with the use of Corporate Partners offering unique thought leadership, current affairs and much more.

Platinum is always informative; always relevant; always irreverent.

After 20 years at the BBC in London, Maarten has been resident in Sussex for many years and is the Founder of the premier business networking forum in the county, The Platinum Club, which takes a totally fresh view on the networking formula and has seen tremendous growth since its inception in 2010.

Having been a journalist for many years, Maarten brings strong opinions and an acerbic wit to the magazine and is rightly proud of the result – an informative, independent and knowledgeable publication that has gained tremendous traction within the business community.

My publishing and writing career started with the football fanzine movement back in the late 1980s, and somehow this lead into editing county lifestyle magazines, including Sussex Life, Surrey Life and Kent Life.

Between magazine assignments I had a stint as a wedding photographer, and I have written and published 18 biographies. In my spare time I enthusiastically support Arsenal’s eternal struggle to finish in the top four of the Premiership.

I have always loved photography and enjoyed taking pictures of anything and anyone. My uncle was a fantastic photographer and had his own dark room which encouraged my love for the hobby and getting my first point and shoot when I was 12.

I’ve been running my own business since 2013 and I’ve not looked back since. I shoot people, places, objects and everything else in between.

I’m married and as a family when we have time we enjoy walking and laughing lots and the occasional trip to the local pub!
